This local SEO checklist is designed for people who already have an understanding of terminology, acronyms, and a basic understanding of how search engine algorithms are designed to understand the information they are provided, signals from people, social signals, links, and other trust signals such as reviews, etc.

Step1 – Local Listing Set-Up
*Set Up Local Profile ASAP
Step2 – Your Listings Optimized
- Business Name *(Use the exact spelling across all platforms.)
- Map (If you embed maps on the website make sure to have the same embed as the business listing)
- Address (Make sure the address is EXACT. as Google shows it on the Google listing)
- Photos & Videos (add EXIF data such as keywords, services, products, and brand names into the EXIF data before uploading to GMB)
- Contact Info (Contact info such as main phone number and email and social media links must all be exact to the GMB listing.)
- Introduction (Vary up the description to make each description unique but relevant to the business as well as keyword optimized)
- Category (Add the main category the business focuses on and then add subcategories if the business has subcategories)
- Keywords (These are the search terms people will type in to find your businesses product or service)
- Hours of Business (Keep the business hours consistent across all citations, directories, and listings)
- Validate (Get a postcard, phone call verification, or whatever else’s is offered to verify the business actually exists from GMB

Step3 – Getting Regular Client REVIEWS every month
- Check Competition
- Start with the Best Customers
- Start Asking for Reviews – Google, Yahoo, Bing, TrustPilot
Step4 – Adding Regular Name, Address & Phone (NAP)Citation
- Start with the Important NAP Sites
- Which Country are you based In?
- Add New NAP Local SEO Citations Every Month
Step5 – Listed in Industrial Directories
- Search for Industry Specific Directories (start with ones that show up for keywords when searching on Google and see if you can add your business)
- Check where competitors are listed > Get listed there (You can use a tool like Brightlocal to do this)
Step6 – Must-Have Separate Page in Every Product/Services Offer
- List Every Product / Service you offer
- Create a unique page for every product or service
Step7 – Do you have Long Form Pages – min. 500 words?
- Check Hard Drive for Content. You can use, eg: presentations, proposals, FAQs, and email outbox.
Step8 – Optimized every page of your website
- Identify Target keywords for every page
- Create UNIQUE Metatags (Title, description) for EVERY Page you want to rank
- Create Keyword Rich URLs for EVERY Product or Services Page you want to rank
- Add Keywords to Headings H1, H2, H3
- Add keywords to text +/- 2 to 3%
- Link to other pages from within the text
- Optimize Images
Step9- Do You Have Many External Websites Linking to Your Website?

- LinkBack from Social Media profiles eg: Twitter, Facebook, & Linkedin

Step 14 – Do You Have a Blog Set-Up
